Q. What does Coders Direct Inc (CDI) provide to the health care industry?

A. Coders Direct Inc (CDI) provides a database of certified coders for health care providers such as hospitals, physician offices, laboratories, nursing homes, recruiters and other health care related concerns.

Q. What makes CDI different from other resume sites such as Monster or Career Builders?

A. CDI only allows certified AAPC or AHIMA coders to post profiles. Each profile is reviewed by a member of our staff prior to posting. Rather than wait for employers to “stumble” across applicants we actively present their qualifications to health care providers. CDI also notifies candidates of specific job openings that match their criteria.

Q. Why don’t the public profiles have contact information?

A. Many coders, considering new employment, are concerned that their current employer may see their resume posted online. Others are looking for the perfect job and don’t want to be contacted regarding positions that they have no interest in. This format is to encourage these candidates to market themselves while still maintaining their anonymity.

Q. Why do some profiles have contact information?

A. We recognize that many new coders need exposure to find that first job. CDI wants to help them along and allows coders with less than 2 years experience the option of posting their contact information in the narrative. We encourage employers to consider these coders for internships and entry level positions.

Q. I’m in the process of acquiring my coding certification, can I submit a profile?

A. Unfortunately CDI will not any post profile unless you have AAPC or AHIMA certification.

Q. What is the relationship CDI has with AAPC?

A. We are licensed by AAPC to provide education, certification and continuing education units (CEUs).

Q. Does CDI provide HIM related services such as staffing, audits and training?

A. No. However, we can direct you to pre-screened companies that can provide those services.

Q. Why would an HIM recruiter use CDI?

A. Cost savings and efficiency. It is estimated that 15 hours are spent identifying just one potential candidate. Rather than search numerous sites and run ads employers can find certified coders in one stop. This significantly reduces search time and overall recruiting expense.

Q. Does CDI do customized coder searches?

A. Yes, a number of companies utilize CDI to identify and contact potential coders. It is a very cost effective method. For more information contact

Q. I have a suggestion to improve the website.

A. CDI was developed by Coders, HIM managers and Recruiters to provide the most efficient platform for job seekers and employers. We actively encourage and welcome any suggestions and feedback  that improves the current process. Please email

Q. I still have some questions.
